One way to get people here would be to let members 'poke' a guest when they are online.  There always seems to be 2 or 3 people listed as Guests.  If you could throw a popup message at them in whatever window they are in to let the member say 'hey dude, join, it only takes a second, and then lets play'.  That way the active members could help to get more members.
